Rutul Shah has over 10 years of transaction experience both as a private equity investor and an advisor, with a sector focus in healthcare. During this time, he has assisted numerous healthcare companies achieve their growth objectives. Prior to founding Virtus Equity, he was a Vice President at Creative Health Capital, a merchant bank focused on the healthcare services industry, where he was responsible for sourcing, structuring and executing transactions. Prior to Creative Health Capital, he was an Associate at Linden LLC, a private equity partnership focused on healthcare products and related service companies. While at Linden, he was responsible for day-to-day management of Linden’s portfolio investments, as well as identifying, evaluating and executing new investment opportunities. Mr. Shah began his career in the healthcare investment banking group at Merrill Lynch & Co. where he provided M&A advisory services and executed financing transactions for healthcare and life science companies.
Rutul holds an MBA with honors from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Bio-Engineering from Northwestern University.
Mr. LeBlanc has over 30 years of experience in the Healthcare industry. He was a Co-Founder and President / CEO of LifeCare Hospitals, a specialty hospital company which he grew from one 22-bed hospital to over 900 beds in 9 states, utilizing both freestanding and hospital-in a -hospital models. Success was achieved by developing a new kind of Specialty Hospital that uses a clinical model which produced better outcomes at a lower cost for medically complex patients. Over a 10 year period, he guided this company through numerous state and federal regulatory changes and operationally prepared LifeCare for the new PPS reimbursement system that became effective in 2003. By 2005, the Company was generating revenue in excess of $300 million and was sold to the Carlyle Group for $550 million.
Mr. LeBlanc has also been instrumental in organizing the Acute Long Term Hospital Association as a founding member. As President of ALTHA in 2002, he lobbied strongly for industry and achieved very favorable reimbursement, moving from cost reimbursement to a prospective payment system.
Prior to getting into the healthcare industry, Mr. LeBlanc worked in Public Accounting for both Price Waterhouse (Price Waterhouse/Cooper) and Peat Marwick Mitchell (KPMG).
Scott Meadow is a private equity professional and faculty member of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he is a Clinical Professor of Entrepreneurship. For nearly thirty years, Mr. Meadow has been a principal investor in the venture capital and private equity industry. He started his Career at William Blair and Company where he became a Partner in 1983. He has been a General Partner at William Blair Venture Partners, Frontenac Company, The Sprout Group and is presently Senior Advisor of Edgewater Growth Capital Partners. Throughout his career, he has approved hundreds of equity financings, and originated or created more than sixty investments including two dozen healthcare service companies.
Scott was recognized in 1998 by Venture One as one of five outstanding healthcare service investors in the venture capital industry. He was also the recipient of the 2011 Richard J. Daley Award, given to an individual who has given direct and extraordinary support to the state of Illinois by participating in or being an advocate for the venture capital and private equity industry. At the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, he was awarded the Phoenix Prize in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 and The Faculty Excellence Award in 2010. He was designated by Business Week’s “Guide to the Best Business Schools” (2003, 8th edition) and (2005, 9th edition) as one of the outstanding entrepreneurial professors in the country.
Scott earned his A.B. Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College and completed his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School with concentrations in Strategy and Finance.
Josh Rogers is founder and CEO of the Arete companies. He is a seasoned financial executive, a visionary leader and an accomplished business developer. In his fourteen years of experience in financial services Josh has always striven for excellence in everything he does. In 2007, he founded Arete Wealth Management, a boutique wealth planning and asset management firm.
Prior to founding Arete, he was with American Express Financial Advisors and then Ameriprise Financial. Josh quickly rose to the level of a top-performing advisor and manager within the company and was promoted him to Field Vice President in late 2003. By the end of 2005, he had created the largest and highest performing office in the company. During the next three years, he grew his management team and field force from 11 to 70 advisors, with revenue growth increasing at an average rate of 61% per year.
Josh is also a co-inventor of a number of patents, including the ‘name your own price’ e-commerce concepts that today are the backbone of Priceline.com and patents involving improvements in the quick service restaurant industry. Josh is a regular contributor to Forbes.com and serves on the Boards of The Chicagoan, a new literary journal, and Grid, the Chicago Sun Times’ new Chicago business magazine. Josh is also on the Membership Committee for YPO Chicago and is a board member of Threewalls, a non-profit art gallery supporting Chicago artists.
Aaron Kneas is a Managing Director at NCCP. Aaron has more than 15 years of healthcare investment banking experience and works with clients to most efficiently navigate the capital markets and monetize their businesses. Previously, Aaron spent ten years as an owner and Managing Director at Creative Health Capital, a boutique healthcare merchant banking firm. Earlier in his career, Aaron served as an investment banker at Wachovia Securities (previously First Union Securities) and BMO Nesbitt Burns. All of Aaron’s investment banking experience has been in healthcare. Aaron received a BS in Economics from DePauw University and graduated from the Management Fellows Program, an honors college within DePauw for business and entrepreneurship. Aaron is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
